Tonchin is a Japanese restaurant brand that's rooted in history, but not quite traditional; they are rule breakers in disguise. They asked for their second US location to reflect the more casual nature of its Brooklyn home. Like a bowl of ramen, with limitless combinations, the result is a medley: a mixture of soft and bold, rustic and refined, natural and artificial. The gentle curves & imperfect plaster of the new facade soften the transition from street to restaurant. A linen chandelier casts a soft glow on the tiled booths below.
