summary
As the name suggests, the Deco Food + Drink takes design cues from the Art Deco movement and originated from a design brief to create a "different kind of food hall." As we worked, we consistently questioned how we could meld elements of the Art Deco with our design process and the inherently informal nature of a foodhall; we were never interested in simply replicating stylistic components of Art Deco. We kept the moves big and dramatic, yet relatively simple by focusing on the geometry of Art Deco, without all the fussy stuff. Tiled blue exclamation points and "confetti" columns add a sense of playfulness and keep the foodhall from feeling too stodgy or serious.
